Again, a big thank you to everyone for commenting on the blog and posting the videos. This thing keeps spreading much further and faster than I would have thought possible.
A number of people have asked how I tracked down the source words for my Barack Roll video, and one or two have correctly guessed that I used Google's new Elections Video Search gadget.
For the two earlier videos in the same style, "Changes" and "I'm F*cking Obama", I had compiled a very large text file containing transcripts of all of the Presidential Debates and simply searched for the words I needed.
This was a pretty slow and inefficient process - it would take a lot of jumping around in the video to get to the right spot.
I'd been thinking about doing a Barack Rolling video for a couple of months, but it just wasn't feasible to do by that method - it would have taken too long and the right words just weren't there. Luckily, I chanced upon a post about the Elections Video Search gadget on the official Google blog. Essentially, it uses word recognition software to make political youtube videos searchable. It's not perfect and it still took a number of days of work, but it's a huge improvement over trawling through debate transcripts.
